If you spend your whole life trying to get close from people you love sure it'll be nice and you will feel happy to be surrounded with people who loves you but it's totally different when it comes to Allah...Because when you get close from your friends or family by doing good deeds you won't guarantee that they do the same or appreciate what are you doing for them but when you do something good for the sake of Allah you'll always get great things that will happen in your life...
I believe that getting close to Allah makes you feel satisfied, happy and secured... if you need anything you know that Allah is by ur side just ask him and you'll get what you asked for fel donia or 2a7'ra without being worried...
Just living this life with Allah not with people makes your life much easier to live coz must of our anger comes out of forgetting that when we are good to someone thats for the sake of Allah not for sake of humans to do the same for us...
