http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/111/6/0/60434da1a5b7eb7c7b4a7ff764f1c72a-d3ej30q.jpg

The Why and How of Goal-Setting

http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2010/286/6/f/keep_dreaming_by_holunder-d30o54n.jpg

Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim

When we want to motivate a friend not to give up or to work harder, it is helpful to remind them of their goals and dreams. This is because goals give a destination and a tangible standard to strive to achieve.
Goal-setting is crucial because…

1) It helps you manage your time because when you know your aim, you work purposefully and act accordingly.
2) It makes you focus and avoid distractions.
3) It brings meaning to all your efforts and this can keep you motivated.

How to set your goals

Remember that our number one goal is to please Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala; then to acheive Jannah. Make goals for your deen, for the dunya, and then our goal for theakhirah is obviously Jannatul Firdaus bi’ithnillah Ta’ala.

For your dreams in regards to your deen, make them that which will bring you benefit in the akhirah; harvest in the dunya, and see the fruits in the akhirah insha Allah. For example, find what will bring you ajr: memorizing The Noble Qur’an, studying Islam, teaching Islam, setting up a charity, volunteering at a charity, supporting our fellow brothers and sisters, doing dawah, setting up services or organizations to serve humanity, or specifically Muslims or the deen.
For your goals in the dunya, make sure that they are permissable and do not cloud your goals for your deen and akhirah. When setting dunya goals, consider your talents – what do you find easy and enjoyable? For example, if you like to daydream, and have a creative imagination, you could become an author and write virtuous andinspiratonal stories for children! Or, you could direct movies/episodes about Islam…so on and so forth.

It is important to know yourself and your character. It is important to know your characteristics when you decide what you want to do with your life. For example, if you spent time and energy to become a police officer, but have a soft and merciful heart, it would be wiser to dedicate your time to a more appropriate work – such as a caretaker, midwife, teacher, or counsellor.

Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) created us in different ways and He made different things easy to us. So instead of resisting or trying to be someone we’re not, we should work with the talents and gifts bestowed upon us. This is not discouraging us from developing ourselves and stepping outside of our comfort zone, but rather an encouragement to pursue our unique talents.

Take Small Steps

A journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step – so take small steps towards your intended destination. Before you can run, you have to walk; and before you can walk, you must crawl. I admit that I dream about travelling around the world, seeing all thecountries and cultures, but I know that this is not realistic for me because of my personal situation. This is why I have made my goal to visit at least three countries inthe Middle East; if I am then able to do this, I will set a new goal to visit 1 country from each continent; and if I also am able to fulfill that dream, I hope to visit 3 countries from every continent!

Make sure that your goals are realistic and practical; if you have a big dream, then set smaller plans and goals within that larger dream. An easy example to illustrate this is Hifz-ul-Qur’an – to acheive this, you should plan on finding a teacher, organizing a study schedule, and timelines by which you hope to memorize Juz.

Do not underestimate yourself

Although your goals should be realistic, as should your plan or timeline to acheive them, but do not underestimate yourself. After all, with help from Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala), you could acheive great things. Why set your goal at being a teacher when you can dream of setting up an entire Islamic school? Why set your goal at memorizing 1 juz, when Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) has made The entire Qur’an easy to remember?

Ponder this: what would you embark on, what would your goals be, if you knew you wouldn’t fail in the end? Don’t be afraid of failure – what’s the worst that can happen? You just pick up a memory and a lesson, and move forward. So, purify your intention, put it in the effort, make du’a, then trust Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) will help youand support you. Even if you have roadbumps along the way, keep going bi’ithnillah – some goals might not be easy, but with hard work and the permission of Allah, they are certainly possible.

May Allah guide us to the right path and make our affairs easy, and bring us closer to that which pleases Him and will bring us success in the Hereafter. Ameen.

5 Simple Steps To Start Your Day Productively

http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs22/f/2008/022/4/f/fixing_the_mood_by_Bntal3nabi.jpg

It can be a challenge to jumpstart your productivity every day. That certainly was the case for me as I had no consistency at all. Some days I would start off my productive but for the majority I wasn’t. Over the years talking, seeing and living with productive friends (they are all self-help junkies like myself) I’ve noticed they all do similar things in the morning, so I started doing what they do. What one man can do, another man can do too. Right? After doing it myself I’ve come up with tried and tested ways to get yourself in a productive mode every single day. Here are five really simple and easy steps to jumpstart your day for maximum productivity.

1. Stoke the fire.

Before we can get any work done we have to warm ourselves up. After you wake up your body and mind are just warming up so to speak but we want to get them ready before we start working.  It is like stoking a fire; you need to warm the coal bit by bit before the fire lights up. Your physical energy is your main source of fuel so we have to make sure to have it stoked before we can use it. This starts with freshening yourself up. Some people prefer to exercise before they start their workday. Others just need to use the bathroom, change their clothes and then start. Find what your routine is for stoking the fire and do that every morning before you start your day. By building a consistency in your routine you will discover that it will get easier and easier to start your day.

2. Upgrade yourself.

After stoking the fire, especially if you have exercised, is a great time to relax and upgrade your skills. Anything that will help you relax, further your education or calm your mind would be good to do. Over time when you upgrade your skills you will get better at your job and the things you do. Your productivity will increase as you learn to do things smarter, more efficient and in less time.
Meditation is a good way to spend your time before you go to the next step. Reading a book, reviewing notes and reading inspirational quotes are one my personal favorite activities.  Oftentimes the nuggets you pick up during this time will affect how you get work done that day. Perhaps reading one chapter in a book changes your view on how you should do things or an inspirational quote gets you all excited on your future. We often don’t find time to educate ourselves so doing it in the morning (when there are no distractions) is the best time to do it.

3. Write down what you want to do today.

In order to for you to get work done, you have to be absolutely clear on what you want to achieve with actionable steps. When you don’t know how to achieve your outcome it becomes a lot harder to reach it. It’s like driving a car in foggy weather. Sure you might reach the destination but you will go very slow and with a lot of hesitancy. Instead, when you know what to do exactly in simple steps it’s like driving in sunny weather with a GPS system next to you. You know what to do, when to do it, you’re more motivated and you will reach your destination much faster.
Now that you know the outcome that you want, break it down backwards in actionable steps. Once you have the steps, decide which ones you are going to do first and write them down for you to do today.

4. Visualize the consequences.

One of the most powerful ways to overcome procrastination is by visualizing the consequences of your actions. Anything you do of importance will have (major) consequences for your life, be it positive or negative. By considering the positive consequences you can fabricate motivation for yourself.
Tony Robbins is famous for saying that we either move away from pain or we move towards pleasure. Would you get yourself started if you knew that doing X, Y, and Z would make you a millionaire? You bet you would if a million dollars had positive consequences for you. The reverse is also true where pain can act like your motivator. Would you act on your work if you knew not doing A, B, and C would disappoint your family and friends? I think so!
Before you do anything, take a moment to think and visualize the consequences. See how the consequences can make you get to work.  Especially focus on the positive consequences because they will be your mental fuel for motivation.

5. Do it.

If you’ve come this far doing all the previous steps you’re already more productive than most people. However, what separates the best from the rest is execution. At this point you’re way passed the tipping point and now it’s time to get the snowball rolling. You have yourself set up for a productive day, the roadmap is in place, you know what the consequences can be and now the only thing remaining is to take action. So let’s get to work!

http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/092/d/4/turn_me_on_by_blackjack0919-d3d0t9l.jpg

I was passing through my posts on the blog, and It is nice feeling to read a thought you wrote from 5 years.

I consider this blog as a place that I put all my favorite stuff, useful info, and my thoughts.. It's totally different from the diary idea to write personal situations that when you read them again you'll find it painful to remember these moments once more.

But I believe in documenting lesson learned or positive thoughts regardless of the situation or people, because this what we need to remember.. when we forgot the learned lessons or when we think negatively we can go back to refresh our memories and encourage ourselves by our own words.

"Third Palestinian Intifada" has not gone away!

http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs40/f/2009/009/8/8/Save_the_Childrens_of_Gaza_by_alienbiru.jpg

Remember this on March 29th? (here)

"Facebook Fan Page calling for the Third Palestinian Intifada"

It is on YouTube and Twitter as well and has been for some time. This is not a new story but one that needs to keep being told.

Over 300,000 "fans" of a Third Palestinian Intifada so far. A call to violence and war that Facebook refuses to remove. They have however removed other pages with far less hateful and violent motives and intent.

And then this on March 29th! (here)

Facebook deletes the page calling for a violent "Third Palestinian Intifada", This is a follow-up to the article "Social media and the Third Palestinian Intifada" that appeared here this morning. Sometime after that Facebook pulled the Like page for the reasons given below.

Could emails like mine and others to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg have played any role?

Doubtful but if people are unwilling to get involved Like pages like the "Third Palestinian Intifada" will simply exist unchallenged spreading a message of violence and hate!

“ … We continue to believe that people on Facebook should be able to express their opinions, and we don’t typically take down content that speaks out against countries, religions, political entities, or ideas," Andrew Noyes, a spokesman for Facebook, told FoxNews.com. He said the social network would continue to take down pages that issue "direct calls for violence or expressions of hate.”

Facebook isn't done with the "Third Palestinian Intifada" (H/T Pajamas Media)

From PJM, "... Like the Hydra, new heads have already sprung into existence to replace the one that has been lopped off by Facebook. In fact, there are now several pages devoted to a new Intifada, in a variety of languages, and one of them boasts 3,292,265 fans at the time of this writing — roughly 10 times the number of the original..."

Here are some of the links to other new and existing Like pages at Facebook calling for Intifada. Let Facebook know how you feel!

My Personal Comment

It's very interesting how Facebook responds that fast for Israel safety and when Muslims were struggling to fight the violence against Islam and the hatred messages that were spread over all Facebook pages, they were acting deaf.

But I'm not depressed at all, because that shows to the world how the Social media is REALLY working to serve people/countries in power.. but I feel that this also shows that we are powerful more than they can imagine, in one day the page gained more than 80 thousands of likes .. they have their reasons to be scared :) and we have our reasons to be proud.

Finally, If you stole my house and I encouraged the house owners to ask for their rights, we don't call this violence .. we call it uprising.

Calling for 3rd Palestinian Intifada

http://th06.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/f/2011/074/9/9/third_palestinian_intifada_by_ddrago-d3bokr1.jpg

Social media site Facebook allows a group that calls for a third Palestinian intifada against Israel. Counter groups urge the site to "Stop the hate."

Update: CNN is reporting that as of March 29, 2011, Facebook has deleted this page "because it contained direct calls for violence." ("Facebook page supporting Palestinian intifada pulled down," by Kevin Flowers.)

A Facebook page calling for a third intifada against Israel is drawing record numbers of “Likes.” As of March 28, 2011, the total was over 346,000 for the group Third Palestinian Intifada. Objections to this page, coming from Israelis and others around the world who believe it is inciting violence and hatred in contravention of Facebook's rules are growing.

On March 27, 2011, Facebook officials, as reported in the Jerusalem Post "Facebook 'monitoring' page calling for 3rd intifada" by Yakov Lappin, stated that they would monitor the group but that they would not take the page down right now.

In contrast to the other protest movements currently sweeping the Middle East and North Africa challenging corrupt regimes, this call for a third intifada is directed against a multicultural and multiracial parliamentary democracy with established civil liberties—Israel.

Historically an intifada (the Arabic word means “uprising”) is a violent upheaval. According to the English translation from the original Arabic, this group, on its Facebook page, calls for a "mass march into Israel from countries."Abraham H. Foxman, National Director of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), stresses that it would be naive to believe that this called-for action "does not portend renewed violence" especially in light of the recent upsurge in terrorist attacks, including the brutal slaughter of the Fogel family, in Israel. His comments are quoted in Israel National News "Battle over Facebook's Third Intifada Page" by Chana Ya'ar, March 27, 2011.

Third Palestinian Intifada has also issued a threat to Facebook, warning that if the group is shut down, “All Muslims will boycott Facebook forever.” This warning to the site’s administrators is on the group’s Facebook page and is in English although all the other text on the page is Arabic. Facebook continues to allow this threat to itself to appear on its site.

Opposition Growing: Appeals, New Facebook Counter Group, and Petition

The Facebook campaign for the third intifada is being countered by various efforts.

Israel National News reports that Foxman of the ADL "slammed the site for its willingness to support a page that promotes violence against Jews and its unwillingness to comply with its own terms of service. Facebook’s policies require a commitment by the user not to post content that is hateful, threatening, or incites violence (Facebook's "Statement of Rights and Responsibilities" Point 3.7 under "Safety," accessed March 28, 2011).

The Israeli government has also directly appealed to have the page removed. According to the Jerusalem Post, “It has been condemned as a violence-promoting page by Diaspora Affairs and Public Diplomacy Minister Yuli Edelstein, who sent a letter last week to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.”
A new Facebook group called "Join the effort to delete the group ‘Third Palestinian Intifada,’” as of March 28, 2011, has garnered over 6300 “Likes.” Also, a Jewish-content website has organized a petition urging Facebook to stop the hate against Israel and the Jewish people. Almost 27,000 people have signed as of March 28, 2011.

Palestinian Society Tired But Foreign Support Likely

Analyst David Pollock of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy has assessed the potential of a Palestinian uprising along the lines of Egypt, Libya, etc., but concluded that, due to Hamas’ brutal suppression of the March 15, 2011, protests in Gaza, that would be unlikely. He also doubts there is a likelihood of an intifada against Israel: in “Is a Palestinian Uprising Next?” March 23, 2011, he states, “There are few signs of a potential new uprising against Israel either. Palestinian society is likely still tired of intifadas and war ... Observers could also monitor Palestinian social media for signs of brewing unrest, though many participants in that virtual conversation live far from the territories.”

The Iranian state-run Press TV in “Palestinians call for ‘third Intifada’” March 12, 2011, reported that the Facebook group organizers are planning “a march towards Palestine on May 15, the anniversary of Israel's occupation of their homelands in 1948. The year saw Israel fabricating its existence during full-scale military offensives against the Arab world.”

In 1948 the United Nations sanctioned the founding of the state of Israel, and on the first day of its existence, May 15, four Arab countries — Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, and Syria — attacked, thereby starting the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.

Incitement to Violence Remains on Facebook Page

The possibility of an actual third intifada may be debated, but calls to violence by the group Third Palestinian Intifada on Facebook are real: “The page’s administrators posted a quotation of a Hadith (Islamic tradition) that is popular with radical groups, which reads, 'The hour [of redemption] does not come until the Muslim fight the Jews and even the stones and trees say, ‘O Muslim, a Jew is behind me, so kill him.’ Other posts have made reference to 'paradise,' a term often used in Islamist circles to promote acts of terrorism.” (Jerusalem Post).

Facebook insists that its site is a safe place where users can discuss their views while respecting the rights and feelings of others. Abraham H. Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League considers the Facebook group, Third Palestinian Intifada, "an appalling use of technology to promote terrorist violence."

My Personal Comment

I think the word safety and violence where totally defined to protect countries in power, not to protect justice.. are they that naive to believe that people admire dying and being harmed and losing everything just to promote terrorism ?!!

That's what we call as Muslims, the natural evolution from oppression against Palestinians, and I won't be surprised if the world praised all arabs uprising and stop when it comes to the safety of Israel.

I wonder why didn't they compare once, the number of westerns who stand by Palestinian people  against Israel and the whole western policies, and the number of Muslim Arabs who stand by Israeli people against Palestinian.

Honestly, I'm afraid that this uprising will cause more chaos on the Middle East since we have many unstable countries after the uprising and all Arabian countries are between healing after uprising or getting ready for an uprising or fighting uprising... But this won't prevent us from saying the Truth, That Palestinian people are totally oppressed and they have the right to take their own actions and we will support it.
